it’s been a year

A year ago today, I received an early morning call that made me collapse where I had been standing.  My good friend, at age 24 had died in a car accident late the night before.  Her name was Alicia.

She was a sweet girl to all, a straight A student, phenomenal with children, and just so easy to be around.  She was a Jesus follower and always willing to help with things within the church, whether it was singing in the choir or teaching the kids.

She and I had a lot of fun together, too.  Probably one of my favorite times was when we went as the two Nintendo princesses (it worked perfectly because we were a blonde and a redhead) while our boyfriends were Mario & Luigi.  We spent hours on those costumes, her more than I since she was by far the better sewer!

Her death was an awful shock and I still have random moments of tears from missing her.  Yet, I also know she couldn’t be in a better place.  She loved to dance I’m sure she’s totally dancing it up in heaven!

Yes, she’s happy and you can’t get more happy than when you’re finally home with Jesus…but today is mostly a sad day for me.

I just miss her.
