Today I am thankful my doggie is alive. She gave me a scare this morning and let me just say I’ve never gotten dressed that fast in my life. She was working on a little chew bone and apparently got a chunk of it off and stuck in her throat. At first she appeared to be trying to throw up, which she probably was, but then she was moving less and less and kept collapsing every time she tried to take a step. She didn’t seem to be breathing and her big eyes were just staring at me with “help!!” written across them.
I have zero “when a dog is choking” training but it triggered a frightening flashback – babysitting my youngest sister and her choking on one of those Tamagotchi toys … but that’s another story.
Who knows if it was my finger jammed so deeply down her throat or if she finally worked it down on her own, but my little Chicha girl seems to be fine now. Maybe a little worn out, but breathing/sleeping by my side as I type.
She is such a sweet, loving dog to everyone…
…….who looks like me, smells like me, talks like me, walks like me….
Haha. Okay, so most people still freak her out a little. She had a rough life before we rescued her, but she’s come leaps and bounds since December 10, 2010. Nonetheless, she’s still my girl and is a very cuddly normal dog when no one else is around. 🙂 I’m thankful to have her!
