I totally forgot to share my equator pictures…this has just been sitting in my drafts! Last May, I was in Ecuador for work and at the end of my trip was able to visit the equator. Both locations, mind you…
Back in 1982, a 30-meter tall monument was completed to represent where the equator is located. It’s in the middle of a beautiful park with lots of shops, some restaurants, activities for kids and prettiness. However, after GPS was invented and became easily usable by the public, it was discovered this big monument was not on the equator… In fact, it was almost 800 feet off. Regardless, it’s still a hugely popular place for tourists. They’ve now constructed quite the quaint little outdoor museum over the true equator, which you’ll see in my lower pictures here.
Anyway, it was fun and I appreciate Sherry taking the time to drive me out there to have a little fun after all our days of work. 🙂 Looking forward to going again with Mike very soon!!
