Oh, the power of music. Yes, Jesus-worshiping tunes but, truly, music in general is a power! Even when I listen to certain classical songs in the right context, in a certain mindset, I can be deeply moved.

I don’t particularly have a gift for knowing what songs which singers sang. Admittedly, I’m even less knowledgeable on the writers and background details. I don’t really listen to as wide a range of genres as I used to either. I just can’t get enough of worshiping!!

There is an abundance of good worship songs out there, no matter your taste. I’m talking lyrics here. Occasionally I will actually write out lyrics into my journal or on a piece of paper I carry around for a few days. Perhaps stick it in my Bible. One can get so used to songs you hear on the radio or in church and never really notice the beauty of the words.

Here’s one to check out today and give you encouragement (lyrics below).

Lord, I Need Your (by Matt Maher)

Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here, I find my rest
Without You, I fall apart
You’re the One that guides my heart.

[chorus:]
Lord, I need You
Oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh, God, how I need You

Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
Where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

[chorus]

So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
When I cannot stand, I’ll fall on You
Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

[chorus]

My one defense
My righteousness
Oh, God, how I need You.
