Book Review: PrayerPoints: Praying God’s Promises at Your Point of Need {by Ken Petersen}

PrayerPoints (a book review on compact book provides quite a depth of material that surely would be helpful to any reader. In each of its over 170 topics, PrayerPoints shares a relatable life scenario, Bible passages related to the topic, a specific prayer and and action item. As the introduction says:

“Each entry in this book is an invitation into a private encounter with God. After all, prayer is, quite simply, a conversation with God. Yet too often we make the conversation one sided, using the time to talk at God rather than listen to him. This book encourages you to give God time to speak to you — to listen for his voice.”

I was surprised at how much I liked this book when I found myself reading it straight through. It was already enriching my life and I had just received it! Initially I had assumed it would just have topics like “discernment,” “pride,” “obedience,” etc. But it dives much deeper than that! Everything from loneliness to financial woes to having a sick child to entitlement. It includes being bullied, challenges of being a mom, doubt, lacking usefulness and even sleeplessness.

This is a highly recommendable book for anyone who wants a tool to stay in God’s Word. There’s bound to be a number of areas in one’s life that could be strengthened just by this book. I definitely see myself using this as a gift someday…but a new copy because I’ll definitely be holding on to mine!

I received this book free from the publisher through the Tyndale House Publishers book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
