Such cute new children’s books coming out lately! This one is high up there in my personal ranks, but nothing’s beat Would a Worm Go on a Walk? yet. I love that one.
Through catchy rhymes and eye-catching artwork, Busy, Busy teaches a child a greater view of the world while also reassuring him or her of Mommy’s love.
This book actually came at a good time in my son’s life. He’s two years old and has a baby sister. Over the last four months of her life, he’s learned that Mama can’t spend all her time with him anymore. He sees me take care of the baby, make dinner, etc., but he also knows that I’ll always stop what I’m doing if he needs me, even during the busy times. This book helps solidify that.
Busy, Busy starts out describing many different animals and what they’re busy with. “Bee is busy making honey. Squirrel is busy stashing nuts. Peacock’s busy looking handsome, feathers blooming — how he struts!” And it concludes with pictures of Mommy being busy in the garden and describing how she has lots of work to do. “But she’d never be too busy for a cuddle-up with you!”
Now, this is being published by a Christian publishing company, but there’s not really anything directly “Christian” about it. That’s not a negative point — just creating awareness so that parents know what to expect. It’s a lovely book that I really enjoy reading aloud to my son!
